Pay Check

Award health.

A pay calculator that hides its limitations is worse than one that has none. This is every award Shift It supports, when it was last checked against the source document, and exactly what we know it does not handle yet.

Last reviewed 29 July 2026. Entries not re-checked within 120 days are shown as needing review automatically.

What we know, and what we don't.

Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award [MA000100]

Rates current as at July 2026 published rates.

Known variance
  • We could not retrieve the full text of clause 25 (ordinary hours) at the last review, so the overtime accrual window is not independently confirmed. The calculator uses your pay cycle, which matches the most common arrangement.
  • Break between shifts: the award does provide 200% for a break under 10 hours, but only when that break follows overtime. Shift It cannot yet tell those apart, so it warns you about a short break and leaves the pay to you rather than estimate one you may not be owed.
  • Pay rates on this award were last set from the October 2025 figures and have not been updated for July 2026. Check your payslip against the current Fair Work pay guide before relying on the amounts. This is the next thing being fixed for this award.

Hospitality Industry (General) Award [MA000009]

Rates current as at July 2026 published rates, including the new Casino Level 3A.

Known limitation
  • Clause 15.1(b) lets an employer roster full-time staff on several different cycles. Shift It applies 38 hours a week, 76 a fortnight, or 152 over 4 weeks. If your workplace uses the 160-hours-per-4-weeks cycle with an accrued day off, Shift It will start overtime about 8 hours earlier than your award does.
  • The award also caps rostered days at 20 in a 4-week period. Shift It does not yet check that.
  • Clause 15.5(e) gives you a 10-hour break between shifts but does not say what you are owed if you do not get one. Shift It will warn you when it spots a short break, but it will not estimate any extra pay, because we could not find a clause setting an amount.

Checked 28 July 2026 (1 days ago). About this award

Victorian Doctors in Training (AMA Victoria)

Rates current as at the 2022–2026 agreement; rates ended 28 February 2026.

Known limitation
  • The agreement's rates have passed their nominal expiry and continue to apply legally until a successor is made. The app tags these rates with their year so you can see it. Successor status re-checked 28 July 2026: the 2022-2026 agreement is still the current one.
  • Casual loading is applied additively with penalties, per clause 36.3 and its footnote.
  • Clauses 33.4 (minimum engagement) and 39.3(c) (24 hours free of duty after a long recall) constrain rostering rather than payment, so they are not applied as payment floors.

Checked 28 July 2026 (1 days ago). About this award

NT Doctors in Training

Rates current as at the 2022–2025 agreement; rates ended 31 December 2025.

Known limitation
  • Rates have passed their nominal expiry and continue to apply legally. Successor status re-checked 28 July 2026: a 2026-2029 agreement was proposed and balloted in February 2026, and an improved offer followed in June 2026, so bargaining is still open and there is no new agreement to apply.
  • This award averages overtime monthly, so the app currently asks for a monthly pay cycle to calculate it correctly. Showing fortnightly pay with monthly averaging is planned but not built.
  • There are four on-call rosters in this agreement, and two of them are now priced straight from it: the Immediate Roster, where you stay on hospital grounds and are paid a percentage of your hourly rate for every hour, and Clinical Advice by Telephone, which pays a set amount per night or per day-and-night. Until now the app paid the same flat nightly figure for every kind of on-call, which was only ever right for one of them.
  • First Roster on-call is not calculated. Its rate is not written into the agreement at all — it is set separately by the Commissioner and adjusted each year for Darwin inflation, and the app does not hold that figure.
  • Second Roster on-call is not calculated either. It is paid as a yearly amount whether or not you work any shifts, so adding it to individual shifts would pay you twice. Handling yearly allowances is still to come.

NSW Nurses and Midwives

Rates current as at the 2025 rates reset.

Known limitation
  • Rates were not re-verified in the July 2026 review pass. Check your payslip against the app before relying on it for a dispute.

Checked 1 June 2026 (58 days ago). About this award

Victorian Nurses and Midwives 2024–2028

Rates current as at the 2024–2028 agreement.

Known limitation
  • Rates were not re-verified in the July 2026 review pass.
  • Transitional Registered Nurse Grade 3 and 4 rates before 2026 are still incomplete.
  • Clause 49.2 verified: work after a break shorter than 8 hours counts as overtime, paid at time-and-a-half for the first two hours then double time (double time all day Saturday and Sunday). Shift It warns you when it sees a short break but does not estimate the pay, because that tiered rate cannot be expressed the way the calculator currently handles it — estimating a flat double time would have overpaid the first two hours of a weekday.

Checked 1 June 2026 (58 days ago). About this award

NSW Ambulance / Paramedics

Rates current as at the current award at last review.

Known limitation
  • Rates were not re-verified in the July 2026 review pass.
  • On-call pay was corrected on 29 July 2026. The app had been using the award's WEEKLY on-call rate for every single night, so a week of on-call showed about seven times what it should. It now uses the daily rate, and applies the weekly rate as a cap — so a full week of on-call shows the weekly figure, not seven daily ones. When that cap applies you will see it as its own line in the breakdown, with the numbers it was worked out from.

Checked 1 June 2026 (58 days ago). About this award

Fast Food Industry Award [MA000003]

Rates current as at July 2026 published rates.

Verified
  • Overtime accrual verified against clauses 13.1 and 20.2: ordinary hours are an average of 38 per week over up to 4 weeks, which is what the calculator applies for weekly, fortnightly and 4-weekly pay cycles.
  • Casual overtime is triggered by the roster cycle in this award. Shift It does not model a roster cycle separately from your pay cycle, so a casual on an unusual cycle should check that figure.

Checked 28 July 2026 (1 days ago). About this award

Fitness Industry Award [MA000094]

Rates current as at July 2026 published rates.

Verified
  • Overtime accrual verified against clauses 13.2 and 19.1(a)(ii): ordinary hours must not exceed an average of 38 per week over 4 weeks.
  • Clause 19.3 verified: if you are required back at work without a 10-hour break, the award provides 200% for all time worked until you get one. Shift It can estimate this, but only if you ask it to.

Checked 28 July 2026 (1 days ago). About this award

SA Salaried Medical Officers (SMOEA)

Rates current as at the 2025–2028 agreement.

Verified
  • Casual rates use the clause 8.3 benchmark base with the clause 8.2.2(a) loading of 25%, applied additively with penalties per clause 8.5.4.
  • Part-time overtime starts at your contracted hours when the employer directs the extra work (clause 62.5), with clause 62.10's plain-time exception. You can declare which applied on each shift in the app's Shift Log.

How to read this page

Verified means the rates and the clauses that drive them were checked against the source document at the date shown. Known limitation means the award is usable but something is disclosed above — most often rates past their nominal expiry, which continue to apply legally until a new agreement is made. Known variance means we know of a case that can produce the wrong figure, and it is described rather than hidden.

Shift It gives you an estimate to check your payslip against. It is not payroll, and it is not legal advice. If a figure here disagrees with your pay, the award itself is the authority.
