Terms of use

Last updated: April 2026

Shift It is provided by W.D McDonald & C.M Randazzo, trading as Great Work Everyone (ABN 17 894 096 807), Stuart Park, NT, Australia (“we”, “us”, “our”). By downloading, installing, or using the Shift It app or this website, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the app or this website.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, or have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract in your jurisdiction, to agree to these terms. Shift It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly accept users under that age.

What the app does

Shift It is a shift work calendar and pay tracking tool. It imports your work roster, builds a personal calendar, and estimates your expected pay against the award or agreement rules configured in the app. It is available on iOS and Android.

Pay Check is a guide, not a guarantee

The Pay Check feature calculates an estimate of expected pay based on the award or enterprise agreement rules we have configured at the time of use. It is designed to help you identify potential pay errors — it is not legal advice, financial advice, or industrial relations advice, and it does not constitute a determination of your entitlements.

Award rates, penalty rates, allowances, and conditions can change and vary by employer, classification, and circumstance. We make reasonable efforts to keep rules up to date, but we do not warrant that Pay Check results are accurate, complete, or applicable to your specific situation. Always verify with your payslip, your employer, your union, or a professional adviser.

If you believe you have been underpaid, contact your union, your workplace delegate, or the Fair Work Ombudsman at fairwork.gov.au.

Roster imports are a convenience, not a record

Shift It imports roster data from PDFs, images, calendar feeds, and other sources you provide. Imports depend on the format, quality, and legibility of the source file and on the app’s parsers and optional AI-assisted extraction. Imports can misinterpret dates, times, locations, or shift types. You are responsible for reviewing every imported shift against the official roster issued by your employer before acting on it. We are not responsible for missed shifts, incorrect attendance, or disciplinary outcomes arising from an inaccurate import.

Notifications and reminders are best-effort

Shift reminders, break alerts, and other notifications are delivered through operating-system push and local notification services. These services are not guaranteed to fire on time or at all — delivery depends on your device’s battery, network, notification permissions, Do Not Disturb / Focus settings, OS throttling, and other factors outside our control. Do not rely on Shift It as your sole means of remembering a shift. We are not responsible for missed shifts or other consequences of a notification that did not arrive.

Your data lives on your device

Your roster, shifts, pay data, notes, and settings are stored on your device only. If your device is lost, damaged, reset, reinstalled, or upgraded without a backup, that data may be unrecoverable. You are responsible for maintaining your own device backups (e.g. iCloud, Google Drive backups). We cannot recover on-device data on your behalf.

Subscriptions and in-app purchases

Shift It offers a free tier and a Pro subscription. Subscriptions are offered as monthly or annual plans and are managed through Apple App Store or Google Play. Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google account at confirmation of purchase.

Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your device’s account settings. We do not process refunds directly — refund requests must be submitted to Apple or Google through their standard processes.

Roster Buddies

Roster Buddies lets you share shift data with other Shift It users using your device’s native file-sharing tools (e.g. AirDrop, Messages, email). You are responsible for what you share and with whom. We are not responsible for data shared between users via this feature.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app;
  • Use the app for any unlawful purpose or in a way that violates these terms;
  • Circumvent, disable, or otherwise interfere with security features of the app.

Intellectual property

All content, branding, design, software, and features of Shift It are owned by or licensed to Great Work Everyone. These terms do not grant you any rights to our intellectual property other than a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on your personal device in accordance with these terms.

Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The app and website are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all implied warranties and conditions, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, reliability, merchantability, and non-infringement.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive loss or damage arising from or related to your use of the app or website — including loss resulting from reliance on Pay Check calculations, roster imports, notifications, or reminders; missed shifts; disciplinary outcomes; disputes with employers, unions, or tribunals; loss of data; or loss of revenue, profit, or goodwill.

Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising from or related to the app or website is capped at the greater of (a) the amount you have paid us for Shift It in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) AUD $100.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any guarantee, right, or remedy under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded by agreement. Where we have liability under a non-excludable consumer guarantee, our liability is limited (at our option) to resupplying the service or paying the cost of having the service resupplied.

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Great Work Everyone, its partners, and its contractors from and against any claim, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable legal costs) arising from (a) your misuse of the app or website, (b) your breach of these terms, (c) your reliance on app output (Pay Check calculations, imports, notifications) in a dispute, proceeding, or negotiation with a third party, or (d) your violation of any law or the rights of any third party.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the app or website at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have breached these terms, misused the app, or engaged in conduct that harms other users or us. You may stop using Shift It at any time by deleting the app and, where relevant, cancelling your subscription through Apple or Google. Sections that by their nature survive termination — including Disclaimer, Limitation of Liability, Indemnity, and Governing Law — continue to apply.

App store terms also apply

If you downloaded Shift It from the Apple App Store, your use is also subject to Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement. If you downloaded it from Google Play, your use is also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service. Those terms operate alongside these Terms of Use. Where a direct conflict exists, Apple’s or Google’s terms govern the distribution relationship; these Terms of Use govern your relationship with us.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Northern Territory of Australia. Disputes will be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Northern Territory.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. Material changes will be communicated via app release notes or this page.
