Shift It 3.0 – Jobs, a Redesigned Coming Up, Live Pay, Widgets, and a Whole Lot More

Shift It 3.0 is out. This is the biggest update since launch – a full rework of the pay module, a redesigned home screen, Live Pay ticking second by second, widgets, Live Activities, and a real answer for anyone juggling more than one job. See the full feature list.

Here’s what changed, in the order it matters.

Jobs (Pro)

You can now manage multiple employers in one place, each with its own award, pay period, locations, and holiday region. Work one job or six – pay stays accurate across all of them. Switch between jobs on any shift, and the correct penalty rates, overtime rules, and allowances apply automatically.

For the casual-with-multiple-gigs, the nurse who picks up agency work on weekends, the junior doctor moonlighting between hospitals: this has been the most-asked feature for a year. It’s here.

Redesigned Coming Up

The home screen has been rebuilt around a hero shift card, the week strip, an hours-progress indicator, and daylight tracking – all customisable. Pick a Shift Work Personality (Quick Glance, Dashboard, Pay Tracker) or drag to build your own layout. Most people pick a preset and never think about it again.

Work & Pay (Pro) tabs

Work and Pay have been rebuilt from scratch as two focused views. Work shows your shifts, hours, and overtime in a single glanceable layout. Pay shows calculated earnings against your award, line by line. Together they replace what used to be a denser single screen – two views, each doing one thing well.

Live Pay Tracker (Pro)

Watch your earnings tick up every second during a shift. It’s accurate to your full award via Pay Check – penalties, overtime, allowances, all of it. When you cross into a higher rate, the display moves with you. No estimate. Real maths.

Widgets & Live Activities

A full set of widgets: Next Shift, Week Strip, Month Calendar, Pay Tracker, and more. Live Activity shows your shift countdown and live earnings on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island – you can follow your day without opening the app.

Advanced timezone support

If you work across time zones – FIFO, cabin crew, international travel – shifts now render correctly in whichever zone you’re viewing them from. Shift Report detects when a period spans multiple zones and gives you the choice of how to view your hours.

Reliable notifications

A new hybrid push + local notification system means shift reminders arrive when they’re supposed to, even on Android devices that aggressively kill background apps. The old “my reminder didn’t fire” bug is gone.

Improved PDF export (Pro)

Cleaner timesheet and pay summary PDFs. Shift breakdowns, overtime totals, and award details – formatted ready to hand to payroll. If you’ve ever chased up a pay discrepancy, this is the document that finishes the conversation.

Work Tools

A row of tools pinned to the Coming Up screen: Break Timer, Private Dial, Quick Link, Shift Note, and Job Cards. One tap, no menus, no digging.

Job Cards

Notes and checklists tied to your shift. Pin them across shifts (induction checklist, ward handover notes) or let them reset each day (daily tasks, patient list). A simple pattern that maps to how shift workers actually work.

New onboarding

A fresh first-run flow – privacy notice, work location, pay basics, your first shift, theme selection. Under 60 seconds. You’re in the app and useful immediately.

No more ads. Free themes for everyone.

All seven themes and dark mode are now free. No ads anywhere in the app – we never had many, and now we have none. Pro stays Pro; everything else is better for everyone.

iPad – a proper tablet experience

Shift It 3.0 ships with full iPad support, including landscape mode.

• Minimum engagement alerts so you don’t silently miss a qualifying shift threshold.
• Payslip comparison now supports salary packaging – the comparison maths accounts for pre-tax deductions.
• Pay discrepancy share cards: export a clean visual of the difference, ready for WhatsApp, email, or a union rep.
• Accurate sun gradients on the time slider – the colour behind a time now reflects whether there’s daylight at that hour.
• Full iPad support with landscape compatibility and adaptive layouts across every tab.

What’s next

We’ve already started on the next chapter. Opt-in Cloud Sync (for shifts, pay profile, and Roster Buddies), plus a small family of AI-assisted features: AI import fallback for awkward roster files, AI payslip comparison that reads a scan and cross-references against your award, and expanded file format support. All processed through our self-hosted LLM server with end-to-end encryption.
